As a Resident of Costa Rica for the past 15 years (originally from Belize) I can really see lots of changes that have been made to this once laid-back country. I have lived in San Jose in places such as Moravia, Escazu, La Sabana, Rohrmoser, Pavas, Tibas, Tambor, Limon, Puerto Viejo, Tambor, Montezuma, Mal Pais, Santa Teresa, Santa Cruz, Samara… You name them! Something that really draws my attention are the huge investments that have been made since. Everything is going up here in Costa. From gasoline to diesel, food, electricity and of course buildings.

I see buildings going up everywhere I go in Costa Rica. From Jaco to Escazu to Santa Teresa. It is kinda scary to me. I wish we still had Costa Rica the way it was when I first met Costa Rica in 1994 . But we all need these investors to come in and make change. I feel good when I see an eco friendly construction instead of just any cracker coming in my country  to make money and destroying our most prized resource of all — nature !

All these huge upscaled buildings going up without the correct planning to be nature friendly and they only make more money and dont give any back to nature, actually destroying it. I have seen some hotels in places like Tamarindo A.K.A. TamaGringo, where their sewage just flows to nearby rivers and eventually to the ocean. I refuse to bathe near any of these big hotels anymore. I much rather smaller beach towns where we can still enjoy Costa Rica’s Beautiful nature.

Sometimes I wonder… could this be like Jaco 2020 ?

Who knows.
